Questions...

Mckena is a really inquisitive child. This is NOT normal for my kids. Preston and Abbie never asked questions like Mckena does. Today while I was nursing I was drinking a glass of milk. Mckena looks at me and asks "if you drink milk does it drip into your boobs for the baby?" Now picture me with this dumbfounded look on my face trying to think of the easiest way to describe the lactation process to my four year old. With no easy solutions in my sleep deprived brain I answer "Yes Mckena, yes it does.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Josh and I are celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary today! It seems like yesterday that we were googly eyed teenagers starting our lives together. Even though I thought it wasn't possible I am more in love with Josh now than I was back then and this is why...

I LOVE YOU MORE BECAUSE...

-you laugh with me when I do crazy things like fall up the stairs or pee my pants!

- you work so hard so that I can stay home with my babies.

-you take every opportunity to teach our children about anything and everything.

-you listen to me when I am a neurotic mess.

- you bring me Diet Coke when my life sucks.

-you make date night (DVD and folding laundry) fun!

-you tell me everyday how beautiful you think I am.

- you clean toilets:o)

-you ALWAYS hold my hand.

-you encourage me to be my best self.

-you sing our children to sleep.

-you ALWAYS put my needs above you own.

-you love me in spite of my imperfections.

Thanks for a wonderful 14 years. I can't think of anyone I would rather spend eternity with. I LOVE YOU BABE!

BACK TO SCHOOL!!!

THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

Yesterday as the first day of school! I remember as a kid being so excited for school. Friends, new teachers, recess, the water fountain etc... I know weird. Preston and Abbie were just as excited. Preston started the 4th grade this year and his teacher is Mr. Dunkley. I am trilled because he has been a teacher for longer than two minutes and I am pretty sure he is not going to leave halfway through the year to have a baby:)
Abbie on the other hand gives me a butt load of anxiety. I do not like her to be out of my care for longer than a few hours but I am sure she will be fine. Abbie's teacher is Mrs. Page. She is a size 0 and wears high heels everyday. Abbie is pretty much in heaven. Mrs. Page is doing her best to figure out how to care for her diabetes and is really doing quite well. McKena on the other hand doesn't start preschool for a couple of weeks and is in Abbie withdrawal. She kept telling me " I hate this day!" So we went and got her a Diet Coke Slurpee and all was well in her world!

LOSS...

This has been a sad weekend! My sweet friend Cynthia Milligan passed away on Thursday. I am so devastated for Matt and their children. They have 6 kids the youngest is only 4. I met Cynthia about 12 years ago when Josh and I lived in Las Vegas. Matt and Cynthia were in our ward and she and I served in the Young Women's together. My best memories were of our game nights. A group of us got together a few times a month for game night. It was always a great time of laughter, food and fun! Cynthia LOVED a good game night and rarely missed. I loved her enthusiasm for life and the way she care for her friends and family. I lost track of Cynthia when we all got out of the military and moved but found her again through her blog. I feel blessed to have gotten to reconnect with her this passed year. We will miss you Cynthia!

On Friday my niece Jessica who is pregnant with twins found out that one of the babies is dying and there is nothing they can do to save her. They share one placenta and one baby is getting everything while the other is getting almost nothing. Jessica will have surgery on Monday to try and save the other twin who is not doing well either. The Doctor was not very hopeful that either of the girls were going to make it. I am so sad for Jessica who has carried these babies for 23 weeks and now has the possibility of losing both of them.

So needless to say I have done a lot of thinking the passed couple of days. Reflecting on the purpose of life and why some people are asked to bare burdens that seem overwhelming. I know that we are here for life experiences to teach us certain things. I feel grateful that I have the knowledge that God is in control and He will help us through anything that we have to face. Sometimes I just think that life is hard and hopefully we can all help each other face the burdens that are ours.

PUKE!!!

Mckena had her first experience with the pukies this weekend. One of the perks with Strep is the dreaded tummy-ach. Do you remember the first time you puked? If you are anything like my family the pukies are pretty much the worst thing EVER!!! I was luck enough to see the look in Mckena's eyes and get the bucket to her on time but it was the saddest thing. She would heave and say "I hate this" heave "I don't want to do it any more" heave then scream. See what I mean about the sadness? I got her settled on the couch with the newly scrubbed/Lysoled bucket and a little Hannah Montana and I went to bath the baby. I had just got her hair soaped when I hear McKena running around my room puking and screaming. Now my germ-a-phobic self is in panic mode. I start washing the soap out of L's hair and yelling for Preston to come help me. He directs McKena to the toilet and I put naked wet baby on my bed for Abbie to watch and I throw Mckena in the tub. I get her cleaned and out of the tub to sit in the hall while I clean up my floor. That's when Josh walked in. Naked sad baby on the bed, wet pale McKena sitting in a towel in the middle of the hall, and neurotic wife scrubbing the floor. I looked at him and said "If you go out of town again we will pretty much need to divorce." To which he laughed. The following photo is the face McKena makes we ask her how she feels about puke.

Needless to say we did survive the dreaded pukies!

Josh must be out of town...

Every time josh goes out of town someone either gets sick or injured. I thought that we were going to make it this time since Josh will be home tomorrow but NO. Mckena came down with a fever this morning. I took her to the quick care and sure enough she has STREP THROAT! Crap. I hate when my kids are sick especially because all they want is their Dad. Thank heavens he will be home tomorrow!

FINISHED...

I just finished BREAKING DAWN. What did I think you ask? LOVED IT! Let me know what you thought!

quick trip to...

PARK CITY!!!

Nothing like a little shopping, pizza, movies and fun for the weekend!

We took the kids to Park City last weekend for a last family get way before school starts. We took advantage of the factory stores while we were there to finish our school shopping. Of course the kids were there for the swimming at the hotel. We arrived in the morning and at 3pm when we were able to check in we went to the hotel so the kids could go swimming. I nursed the baby and spent some time with Edward and Bella:O) before heading down for a couple of photos.

We stayed at the Marriott and had the best beds ever! Mckena made herself comfortable right away.
After our shopping, visiting pizza hut, and cold stone we went and saw Kung fo Panda. The kids gave it a thumbs up and Ella did great for her first movie. It was a fun couple of days!
