No, I am not referring to Preston turning 16 yrs old (at least not yet). Today (Thursday, August 19th) is Our Sixteenth Wedding Anniversary. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was "scoping" Pam out in early morning tardy make-up. A lot has happened since then. Numerous moves, several college degrees, 4 beautiful kids, numerous "life's" ups and downs, and some life changing experiences. We have weathered a lot of different changes and challenges together. But over the past 16 years, there is only one thing that has been constant... My love for Pam.
This is not an "Ode" to Pam, but it is my attempt to share some of my thoughts and feelings of our life together... so far. One of Pam's "love languages" is words of appreciation and affection - which at times I forget to do. This is not an attempt to "score" some major points or an attempt to make anyone that follows Pam's blog feel bad. Some wives and husbands voice their affection and appreciation from church pulpits, through cards, letters, flowers, etc. This is my little attempt to do so from our house top.

I am so blessed to have Pam in my life. She really is my best friend!!! She not only loves me for who I am but for who I can become. She has always been my strength and my support - she is the best "sounding board" that I could ask for. Her honesty is true and helps keep me grounded on some of my craziest ideas. It is her voice in my head that is always telling me that I can achieve anything.
Her sense of humor is securely founded in her self confidence. Pam is the first to share an embarrassing story or experience to help others laugh - while many have had the same/similar experience but would rather die than share a little laughter. Isn't sharing more laughter one of the things this world needs?
She is so genuine. She will be the first to admit that life is hard and that it "sucks" sometimes. Kids don't always listen. Your house will not always stay clean. Friends are not always nice. Things don't always work out the way you wanted them to. Everyone's families have some sense of "dysfunction" in them. And the majority of the time "we have to fake it, until we make it.
She trusts fully and completely. Prior to leaving town (Yes, unfortunately I am not in town during our Anniversary), I was talking to Pam about "trust" and how it relates to our family and our relationship. I was "ahhhed" by her response. Pam stated that she trusted me and said that she knew that I would never do anything that would hurt or jeopardize our Family. She said it so firmly... "I know!" Like she didn't need to ever see the sky to know that it is blue. Or that the grass is green. But that she "knew." She is so convicted to her beliefs and trusts in them 100%.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, PJ - I love you.
