MCKENA,MCKENA,MCKENA

THE GIRL THAT KEEPS US LAUGHING!

Mckena is our kid that we can't figure out. Half the time we are laughing and the other half of the time we want to rip our hair out. She is hysterical one minute and then turns around to be the bossiest/sassiest thing you have ever met. The past little while McKena has said some things that we thought were pretty funny so I thought that I needed to write them down before I forgot.

On Valentines day we had just sat down to our candle light dinner. Everyones plates were dished up and we were getting ready to eat and McKena pipes in and says " so ... who is gonna tell the first spooky story around the campfire?" Preston politely informed McKena that we were having dinner by candle light not the campfire.

For the past few weeks Mckena has not been wanting to say her prayers. Since we have never faced this problem before we were at a total loss as to what to do. So we decided to have a special FHE about the importance of prayer and we told the story about Daniel and the Lions Den. Thinking that we had for sure made some head way we end FHE and Josh asks McKena to give the prayer. She stands up put her hands on her hips and says" go a head and throw me in the lions den I'm not saying it!" Needless to say we are back to square one.

My children have really taken a liking to the show Little House on the Prairie. So they were watching last week and on the show Mary goes blind. So now McKena goes around the house with her eyes squinted and her hands out pretending she is blind. She even makes us call her Mary or she wont answer you. The following picture was her this morning pretending to be Mary so she wouldn't have to do her chores. Apparently if you are blind you don't have to clean up!!!

The "Stuff" that only Dreams are made of...

So... It's a little early for "Flash Back Friday," but the kids are asleep and Pam is snuggled up with her second greatest love... a good book (Her first is the kids and I - at least we hope).

And though she thinks that I don't look at this blogg or even really care, not knowing what I am doing, not knowing her account name or password, and really supposed to be working on some crazzzy federal implementation plan for a new VA program; I have somehow managed to "hack" into her account to add this little post.
The "stuff" that only dreams are made of...

At times I "flash" back to what I think my life would be like without Pam or our beautiful kids, and then I remember this is the "stuff" that I dream of. Or the hours of worry and numerous failed attempts to be the world's great dad/husband, the countless prayers that my little family will be okay while I'm on some commuter bus or while in some planning meeting, and then I am reminded that this is the "stuff" that dreams are made of.

As I listen to Pam talk about her day and things that she has done and wants to do. As I watch her care for our family and hold down the "Fort" while the "Indians" are looting from one room to the next. As I read over the blogg entries that she posts - with only the most honest, kind hearted, true natured openness that Pam is...

I remember that this is the "stuff" that only dreams are made of.

Happy "Flash Back Friday" Babe - I love you!!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Lover day at the Brown's
I know I'm a little behind in the postings but I couldn't overlook our little lover day celebration!
Josh and I have found that it's really not convenient to do anything alone for Valentines so for the past few years we have made it a family event. Our kids seem to think it's the best thing ever. So the tradition continues.

Preston had to help lots this year since I was feeling well and I thought he did a great job! We had pot roast, veggies, rolls, green salad, and of course sparkling cider. I had made heart shaped sugar cookies while the kids were at school and after dinner we delivered cookies to all our neighbors and friends!
Since I wasn't up for shopping ( I know sad huh?) Josh was in charge of the presents this year. He pick these cute stuffed animals and they each got their favorite candy bar. I thought he did a pretty good job. Happy lover day my cute family!!!!

Anatomy lesson 101

FAMILY FUN GONE WRONG!!
BEFORE....
Josh and the kids were so proud of themselves for building the biggest snowman in the neighborhood. Then the sun came out....
After....
Sorry the picture is the wrong way. I can't seem to fix it and my head hurts to bad to care! What does this look like to you? We didn't notice it until a couple of people from our ward were commented on the body part like snowman in our yard. Then on Monday a guy came by my house and took a picture with his phone. Laughing mind you SO....

As soon as Preston got home from school the remainder of the snowman came down. Who wants to be known as the house with the ***** in the front yard?

Not me:O)

NOT FEELING SO HOT!

PREGNANCY ISSUES
On Tuesday I was down in Provo to pay a bill and decided to stop at my mom house. Mckena and I were playing puzzles waiting for Grandma to come home. A few minutes after she got there I was talking to her about my day and hit my knee on the edge of the bar. Next thing I know I was out cold. Yes! I totally passed out! Flat on the floor. When I came to I wasn't feeling good so I laid down. I was super nauseated, weak and shaky. I tried to eat something little and it didn't help. Called my sweet sister in law Jo and she had me come up to her office to get checked out. Baby is OK but my blood pressure was too low. Then the migraine hit and after feeling like total crap for 24 hours I called my doctor. Went in and found out that I am Anemic. That combined with the low blood pressure is apparently not to hot. He said no wonder I was always so tired. Not enough blood for me and the little miss. Needless to say after some pain meds, nausea meds, and Iron I should hopefully be feeling better in a few days.
I do have to say that I have the best husband and kids ever! Josh has gone in late to work, made all the meals, laundry, cleaning, and flowers. My kids have waited on me hand and foot. Made me cards, got me ice water, folded laundry and asked me a million times if I was feeling better. Sweet huh?

WEEKEND-O-FUN!!

FRIDAY/SATURDAY!
I went with a couple of girlfriends for a "sleepover" from Friday to Saturday. My kids were tick because they couldn't understand why I got to go on a "sleepover" when we don't allow them to have sleepovers, but heck I'm the Mom right? Sometimes we just need to get away. Anyway we had a great time eating, laughing, and shopping. My friend even gave us all matching Pj pants. Cute huh?
SUNDAY!
In our family we have 5 birthday in the month of February. Monica, Cheryl, Kenny , Tiffani, and me. So this year we were invited to go to my sister Lori's house and she made yummy soup and we went snowmobiling. This picture is of McKena with her favorite Uncle Kenny after her first ride.
After the fun in the snow we had some great desserts! Cheesecake, mint brownies, and apple pie! All of our favorites. This photo is of my sister Cheryl barely surviving our rendition of the birthday song. Hope everyone had a great birthday!

PRESTON MY SWEET BOY!

I love it when my kids do things that are so sweet that I just have to smile! These are the moments in parenting when you sigh and think that maybe your doing an OK job.
Preston and Josh have their own bedtime routine. They have been reading the Harry Potter together for months. Preston just hates it when Josh is not home for bedtime. I have tried to substitute for Josh and have been denied. So last night Josh was at young men's and I went upstairs to put the girls to bed and told Preston that he needed to go to his room to get ready for bed. I came down stairs to find this note left for Josh to read when he got home. Of coure the minute Josh got home downstairs he went for the Harry Potter fest.
I love that my two boys found something that they both look forward to doing together.
