pumpkin patch

We took our annual visit to Grant's Vineyard Pumpkin Patch for family home evening last week. Every year we go to the same patch to find our pumpkins. The kids had a great time!

We told the kids they had 5 dollars to spend on their pumpkins and set them loose. Preston threw in 2 dollars of his money to get a big pumpkin, Abbie picked a white one, and Mckena wanted one with a good "holder" (stem) These are the winners!
Then off to Wendy's for dinner and back to the house for the carving party! We'll let you know how they turned out!!!

I hate when days start out like today did...

As I woke up this morning the first thought that came to mind was "what the crap, it is already morning?" Yep I woke up feeling like I just went to bed. Then I thought wow that was a along night. Baby isn't feeling well and was up every couple of hours. I tried to let her sleep on her boppie next to me. Which means not good sleep for me. Then there is the matter of Josh's alarms. He sets two so that he will actually get up. One on the radio with music blaring and the other with his cell phone. This morning at 4:30 the music scares me awake and he turns it off then about 5 minutes later his cell phone alarm goes off and he keep hitting the alarm clock trying to turn it off. What the crap? Then with my sweetest voice I can muster I tell him he is trying to turn off the wrong alarm.
When it was time for me to get up I went to do my hair and no brushes. Not a single one. Mckena has a tendency to take stuff and put it in weird places. So I searched and searched with no luck. So I put a hat on went to help the kids get ready for school. Minute by minute the crankiness was building up. I cant find a comb to do the girls hair, everyone got dressed in the living room and left their pj's, Mckena keeps telling me she is hungry to death, Preston keeps complaining that he didn't want to go to school, and I found a huge mess that Abbie and her friend made with my scrapbook stuff. That's when I blow my top! The yelling starts and didn't stop until I dropped them off to school. Now the guilt has set in and I given myself the mother of the year award.
Then I went to the quick care for them to check Ella's ears and the provider had his zipper down. I wanted to tell him XYZPDQ but I was embarrassed for him so now I have more guilt that he is going to see patients all day with his zipper down.
So now I am going to make a nice dinner and the kids favorite cookies as an apology and pray really hard that the provider has to pee soon so he can fix his issues. I hate when days start out like this!

bunch of stuff mixed together!!

Today was pj/crazy hair day at the school. Preston and Abbie were both excited about it!

Abbie was REALLY excited about crazy hair and this is what she asked me to do! Creative I tell you!
A few nights ago Josh and I were downstairs watching TV and we heard someone get out of bed. I thought great I hope no one is sick. I came up the stairs and this is what I found.
Great a dead body! Just kidding:O) Mckena had gotten up to go potty and could only make it this far before she had to lay down and go back to sleep. When I picked her up to put her in bed she said "Mom I am just so sleepy. "
As a side note last night at dinner Mckena was picking out the stuff from her salad. All the carrots and celery were in separate piles. I told Mckena she should eat her carrots because they were good for your eyes. She ate her carrots and then ask if anyone wanted her celerina because it is good for your eyebrows. Another great reason to eat celery!:O)

What happened to ROCKtober?

I call the month of October, ROCKtober because of the totally awesome weather that we get. Cool mornings and evenings, awesome afternoons perfect to play outside, and beautiful leaves. Then we woke up to this.....
Yep that's SNOW!!! What the heck??? Of course I was the only one less excited about the white stuff. The kids were ECSTATIC! Out side they went after breakfast for a quick play in the snow before church.
Needless to say this was all that was left when we came home from church that afternoon.
A little on the slanted side but a snowman none the less!!

out of the mouth of Abbs!

As a parent I have find myself constantly learning from my children. Today was no different. As I was helping the kids get ready for bed tonight I was feeling a little haggard, as usual, but all things considered things were going well. I sent them up to brush, floss, and swish while I pulled their beds down and got their pillows just right. When everyone was finished we had prayers and these were a few things that were in Abbie's prayer... Please bless Daddy to come home safe from school, help Ella's shots to not hurt her, bless Preston that he will not have any bad dreams tonight, bless Mckena that her eye will feel better, bless Carly and Spencer and Jason and Norman cause they are probably sad that no family lives by them, bless me to keep my blood sugar good because its really important, and bless us to be together as a family forever... As I listened to her prayer I thought of a few things First how thoughtful my sweet Abbie is. She always thinks of everyone. Second I thought about much faith she has. Abbie's really believes that if she prays Heavenly Father really listens to her. This is one of those moments that I will never forget. Because of Abbie's example I am going to be more thoughtful of others and use my faith a little more often.

MY HERO JOSH!

The Heber valley century ride was this Saturday.
Josh and a group of friends rode the full 100 miles!
This is why Josh is my hero. Plus he looks HOTT on his bike!!!
The kids and I went up and watched him finish.
He finished strong with a smile on his face!
Josh's BFF was happy to see him finish. Mckena kept saying "I hope he doesn't crash!"
PIT CREW!!!
Josh is a true athlete. He trains hard and he loves being able to set his mind to something and accomplishing it. I have never met anyone with a stronger drive and dedication than Josh. We love going to every race that he participates in and cheer him on. We are so proud of you ! You are our HERO!!!

P.S. Thanks to Kellie for our new header! You are so talented!
